India vs Zimbabwe 2016: Ambati Rayudu 'really happy' with his ODI performances
Following a series-sealing performance in the 2nd ODI against hosts Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu has expressed happiness with the progression of his career in the 50-overs format.
Speaking to reporters in the post-match press conference, the 30-year old also revealed how visualization helped him prepare for each game and made sure that the focus was channeled properly.
Rayudu felt, “My ODI career – I am really happy with the way it has gone. Given the guys that we have in the team, somebody has to do the role that I am doing. So, it is important for me to stay focused and take my opportunities when they come.“
He added, “I am happy with the way I am batting. You know the conditions well but still every year and every time it's different. I haven't looked into the past. I am just playing on what I am facing as per conditions. I have worked on the game also a bit, so I am happy.”

After a half-century in the opening match, Rayudu once again played the anchor role and remained unbeaten with a handy contribution. During the 1st ODI, he also became the fourth fastest Indian batsmen to go past 1000 runs alongside skipper MS Dhoni.
When asked about his training regimen, the right-hander credited the art of visualization for guiding him through the off-season. Rayudu affirmed, “For me, generally it's just about getting my batting in shape. Most of the times, visualization is the key I feel. Even when you're out for a long period of time, traveling with the team, I try to keep myself motivated and focused. I prepare myself before the game as though I am going to play it.”
Having taken an unassailable lead in the 3-match series, India might want to give a chance to untested players during the final encounter on Wednesday before the action shifts to T20Is.
