Indian blind cricket team captain's monthly income is only Rs 13,000
Where on one hand Indian cricketers are earning in crores with endorsements and lucrative cricket leagues, Shekar Naik, who is India's blind cricket team captain, earns only 13,000 per month.
Shekar captained India to bring laurels to home by winning the blind cricket T20 World Cup in 2014. He is now worried of the poor financial condition of his team.
“My monthly income is just around R13,000. I requested the sports ministry for a government job, but I am yet to get one,” said Naik as quoted by MidDay.
Cricket is one of the most famous sports played among blind people in India. There are currently 35,000 blind cricketers in this country. One fears to even think about the condition of these people if Shekar himself is going through so much.
The 29-year-old added saying that no one except Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan congratulate us after we won the World Cup.
“After winning the World Cup no one from Team India congratulated us except Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, who tweeted about us.”
The Indian blind cricket team is all set to leave for England to play three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and three Twenty20s from May 24th to 31st. The team will also be in Bahrain to play matches from June 1 to 4.
