Indian Cricket players salaries: Highest paid cricketers in 2016
On November 2015 BCCI announced the player retainer fee and central contracts which would be renewed again in November this year. According to the list, only 4 players are kept in the elite category A in the central contracts where they will be paid Rs. 1 crore per year plus the additional fees they will earn for every appearance they make in an international match.
How do the central contracts work?
The players are split into three categories A, B and C and are included in one of those three categories based on their experience and past one year’s performance. The contract is valid up to a year and any player making debut in that period is given a Grade C contract. The salary is handed over to the players on the basis of their categories.
Retainer Fee
This is the guaranteed yearly income of Indian cricketers according to their central contract categories. While a player from Grade A receives Rs.1 crore annually, players from Grade B and C receives Rs. 50 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh respectively.
