Indian Cricket: Sourav Ganguly backs the seniors
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has said that it is not over for senior players like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh.
“I don’t believe it’s all over for the seniors. After all, they have contributed on ample occasions during the big matches, which can’t be taken away from them. I believe they still have it in them to make a comeback any time. You simply can’t afford to ignore them if they come up with notable performances” said Ganguly, who turned 41 on Monday.
He also said, “It’s too early to talk about the 2015 World Cup. There are still some two years remaining. Performance of youngsters, no doubt, is inspiring. But I can‘t say this is the team for the World Cup. The team really seems to be doing very well. But momentum is very important regardless of the format of the game. It’s imperative for all the teams. Being consistent is a challenge, not just in cricket, but in all sports.”
