Well after a disappointing defeat of Team India in their first ODI against New Zealand, the news of a timely victory by Indian women cricket team will certainly provide a bit of relief to the millions of fans of the game.

Indian women registered a seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first One-Day International women’s match at the ACA-VDCA stadium on Sunday.

The Indian bowlers played a key role in the defeat of Sri Lanka and allowed them to score just 76 runs. Gouhar Sultana with her miraculous bowling spell clinched four wickets with her left-arm spin. India in reply lost two early wickets of openers Karuna Jain (6) and Smriti Mandhana (13) for 25 runs.

However Indian captain Mithali Raj (34 not out, 59b, 6×4) and Anagha Deshpande (23, 2×4) saved the day by adding 43 for the third wicket. Though Sri Lanka crashed at a meager score of 76 runs but they showed excellent fielding and a good display of bowling. Apart from Gouhar Sultana the debut for left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad also proved fruitful with her two wickets haul.

It is hoped that the Indian women will again show excellent cricket skills in second ODI which will be played at the same venue on Tuesday. Best Wishes.
