Indian Women's cricket team delivers clean sweep in Sri Lanka T20Is

Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 43 during India’s 9-wicket win

The Indian Women's cricket team seems to be on a roll at the moment as they followed up their clean sweep in the ODI series against Sri Lanka with a 3-0 whitewash in the T20Is as well. A phenomenal bowling performance by the spinners saw India secure a 9-wicket win in the 3rd T20I at Ranchi.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Sri Lankan Women's team failed to gather any sort of momentum throughout their innings and ended up with a paltry 89 for 9 in their 20 overs. Left-arm spinner Ekta Bisht was the pick of the bowlers for the home side as she claimed 3 for 17 from her 4 overs.

Bisht was ably assisted by fellow spinner Anuja Patil who also came up with impressive returns of 2 for 19. The Indian bowlers completely stifled the opposition batsmen as just two batters were able to register a score in the twenties.

The Sri Lankan Women were at 46 for 7 at one stage, but a stand of 39 between Eshani Lokusuriyage and Ama Kanchana steadied things slightly towards the end of the innings. The former top-scored for her team remaining unbeaten on 25.

India, on the other hand, got off to a blistering start as openers Vellaswamy Vanitha and Smriti Mandhana raced away to 64 in 8.3 overs. After Vanitha fell for a quickfire 34 from 25 balls, Mandhana was joined by Veda Krishnamurthy and the duo ensured that the Indian Women coasted to a 9-wicket win with 37 deliveries still remaining.

In-form batter Smriti Mandhana was unbeaten on 43 striking at a run-per-ball, while Krishnamurthy scored 13 off 16. India were already 2-0 up in the series and a win in the 3rd T20I ensured that they delivered a clean sweep.
