IPL 2014: Sunrisers Hyderabad retain Shikhar Dhawan and Dale Steyn

Sunrisers captain Shikhar Dhawan will have the services of Dale Steyn in IPL 7.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and the South African pace bowler Dale Steyn ahead of the IPL auctions next month, according to reports from cricinfo.

The Hyderabad franchise were expected to retain a few more players after they had a pretty good season in 2013 in which they finished fourth. Kumar Sangakkara, Ishant Sharma, J P Duminy and Quinton de Kock are some of the notable absentees from the Sunrisers’ retention list.

The franchise will be hoping to buy some of those players through the couple of joker’s cards available for them as they go into the auctions with 38 crores of their 60 crore purse still left to spend.

The IPL 2014 auctions will take place on the 12th and 13th of February.
