IPL 2016: 5 domestic performers who have failed to perform in the tournament so far
The Indian Premier League provides a wonderful platform to the Indian domestic cricketers to showcase their talent in front of the cricketing world. They also get the chance to get one step closer to their dream of playing in the national colours.
However, before the IPL, the cricketers also play in various domestic tournaments. The super-performers in the domestic tournament generally carry their good form in the IPL too. But there are exceptions too.
Some players who performed brilliantly in the domestic tournaments have failed to replicate their performances in this year’s IPL. Somehow these players have failed to live up to their expectations.
We have selected the 5 of them. Here they are:
Hardik Pandya
The Baroda all-rounder, who recently played for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016, performed brilliantly in the domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2015-16 to become the highest run-getter in that tournament.
The impressive all-rounder performed well for India too. He bowled the crucial last over in the crunch encounter against Bangladesh in the T20 world cup where India managed to sneak a 1-run victory.
However, his performance in the ongoing IPL 2016 has been below par as he has just managed to score 30 runs in 9 matches at a dismal average of 6. With the ball too, he has been far from impressive as he has just managed to pick up 3 wickets in the 9 games he has played.
Barring some spectacular fielding efforts, his contribution to the Mumbai Indians team is very minimal. This young all-rounder will surely look to come good in the upcoming matches.
