Aaron Finch is an Australian international, hard-hitting batsman, consistent performer for Gujarat Lions in this year’s IPL and now, he is an engaged man. The 29-year-old made the latter official on Wednesday as he posted on social media that he was engaged to Amy Griffiths.

The former Australian T20 captain who switched to the Gujarat Lions in this edition of the IPL has been in sparkling form on the pitch and after this news, it is clear that Finch is enjoying life both on and off the pitch.

It was the Australian opener who first broke the news of the pair’s engagement on social as he posted this on Instagram and Facebook.

It did not take too long for Amy Griffiths to take to Instagram and express her surprise and reveal the news to the world.

The pair had earlier posted a photograph of them going out in Kolkata and enjoying their time together when Finch isn’t busy playing for the Gujarat Lions. Whether it was pre-planned or something that was done spontaneously, Finch certainly chose the perfect moment to pop the question.

Aaron Finch had a successful start to the 2016 IPL season as he began it with three consecutive Man of the Match awards. He scored three successive fifties as an opener and helped Gujarat Lions chase successfully and get off to a three-game winning start to the season.

His impressive start to the season also earned a nod of approval from Amy Griffiths on Twitter.

But after a duck in the following game, a niggle that forced him out of batting against Royal Challengers Bangalore and the successful reunion of two former Chennai Super Kings teammates at the top of the order, he moved to the middle order to provide some stability to the side.

The 29-year-old showcased his flexibility and ability to adapt to any situation by excelling in his new role and leading his side to a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Eden Gardens on Sunday, in their last IPL game.

With Suresh Raina looking likely to miss the Lions’ next IPL game against Royal Challengers Bangalore as he will be with his pregnant wife in Netherlands, the Rajkot-based franchise will be counting on the Australian’s experience to guide them safely to the play-offs.

As the second-leading run-scorer of the season for the Lions with 276 runs at an average of 55 and strike rate of nearly 140, Finch will be hoping to continue his impressive start and celebrate his engagement with a victory and a lot more runs.
