IPL 2016: Highest Run-Scorers, Wicket-Takers, Best Catch after Rising Pune Supergiants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Virat Kohli had a terrific game against Rising Pune Supergiants

We have a tremendous game tonight. Rising Pune Supergiants play against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Pune and Bangalore lost both of their previous games. They would be looking for a win in this match. MS. Dhoni won the toss and chose to field first. No surprises here. Dhoni was unsure about what the wicket had in store for them today. He said, “It is difficult to predict what the wicket will do here. We have made one change. We have got Rajat in place of Irfan.” Also read: IPL 2016: Highest Run-Scorers, Wicket-Takers after Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rising Pune Supergiants

“I think people are getting smarter at chasing totals. The surface looks good. It is pretty hard and should remain so. But there will be a bit of dew. Mandeep comes in place of Varun Aaron, Tabraiz Shamsi is also in.” Virat Kohli added.

RCB is a powerhouse. Their long batting lineup extends until the seventh wicket. Virat Kohli is in excellent form and put it yet another scintillating performance. Lokesh Rahul played instead of Chis Gayle but could last long.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers went past 200 runs in IPL 9. He started really well against Rising Pune Supergiants and scored another fifty. He paced his innings beautifully. He scored 80 runs out of 63 balls.

AB de Villiers was on song today. He scored a half-century in just 25 balls. Tishara Perera dismissed de Villiers. He scored a brilliant 83 out of 46 balls. Kohli propelled himself to the top of the leading run-scorers chart and de Villiers fired himself to second place. AB de Villiers now has the most number of sixes in IPL 2016.

Chasing 186, Rising Pune Supergiants needed a good start. They lost du Plessis in the second over and Pietersen walked off with an injury after facing only one ball. Steve Smith didn’t last long either. The star was a disaster. Rahane held the innings together and pushed himself into the leading run-scorers chart.

Thisara Perera struck early and dismissed Lokesh Rahul. AB de Villiers came in next and demolished Pune’s bowlers. Murugan Ashwin is the third leading wicket-taker in IPL 2016 but today was definitely not his day. RCB smashed him all over the park. Royal Challengers Bangalore outpowered Rising Pune Supergiants. Tishara Perera was the only one to pick up wickets today.

RCB were off to a great start, they picked up Faf du Plessis in the second over. Kane Richardson produced a superb opening spell and conceded only six runs in his first two overs. He finished the match with brilliant figures of 3/13. Debutant Tabraiz Shamsi had a decent game today. He picked up the key wicket of Rahane. Shane Watson had a great game. He fired himself into the leading wicket-takers list.

DD’s Amit Mishra still has the best bowling figures in an innings with 4/11 and has the best bowling average in IPL 9.

We have been treated to some top-class fielding in IPL. We have seen some stunning individual performances and some breath-taking relay catches. Today, Dhoni was outstanding behind the stumps today. Steve Smith was excellent in the field as well.

Watson-Weise relay catch against Delhi Daredevils was spectacular. Watson was clinical and judged the catch perfectly. It is never easy to take a catch while running backwards. Let’s not forget David Weise, his job was not easy. He timed his dive to perfection and completed the catch just inches before the boundary rope. This still is the best catch in IPL 2016 so far.
