IPL 2016: Rising Pune Supergiants' Mitchell Marsh ruled out of tournament
The Rising Pune Supergiants are suffering due to key players getting ruled out of IPL. Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is the latest casualty in the squad. The 24-year-old cricketer was ruled out of the tournament with a side strain and is heading home.
According to Cricket Australia Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager Alex Kountouris, Marsh experienced some pain in his left abdominal area at the training ground a few days earlier and didn’t feature in Pune’s last few matches. He said, "Mitchell experienced some pain over his left abdominal area whilst batting at a training session with his team Pune in the IPL a few days ago."
Kountouris further added that Marsh had a scan which suggested that he has a side strain. He also confirmed that the Western Australian will return home for treatment ahead of Australia’s tour of the West Indies, "He missed his team's next game and the pain has not resolved. He had scans in India that suggest he has a side strain injury and will now return home for further assessment and treatment ahead of the Qantas Tour of the West Indies.”

He also talked extensively about the possible return of Marsh by adding, "Once we have a better understanding of the extent of the injury we will be able to advise on his return to play timeframes."
The Aussie all-rounder joins Pune’s elongated list of injured players. Earlier the MS Dhoni-led side had already lost Kevin Pietersen to a calf injury and Faf du Plessis to a finger injury.
Things are not going according to plans for the newly formed franchise. They have lost five out of seven matches played till date. With key members of the team getting injured it is becoming quite chaotic for the Indian skipper.
Marsh played only three matches so far in this year’s IPL. He managed to score only seven runs in the tournament and picked up four wickets at an economy rate of five. MS Dhoni will surely miss his services.

The all-rounder has already represented his nation in all three international formats and is an important member of the team. The Australian team management would like to have him on their tour of the Caribbean next month.
