IPL 2016: Robin Uthappa feels batting chemistry with Gautam Gambhir is key to KKR's success
After registering yet another thumping win against the Kings XI Punjab, two-time champions, the Kolkata Knight Riders are surely the team to beat in the IPL 2016. KKR opener Robin Uthappa who scored a brisk 53 to help his side to a convincing 6-wicket win, has attributed their recent success to his batting chemistry with skipper Gautam Gambhir.
Gambhir and Uthappa shared an opening stand of 82 runs as KKR chased down the target of 139 with 17 balls to spare. The rock-solid opening combo of KKR have been outstanding for KKR this season as they have already scored 264 runs together in the 4 matches played.
Batting chemistry between the two of us is fantastic
According to a report by DNA, Uthappa said "I think we understand each other. We played a lot of cricket together. We complement each other's game as well. So, we ran well between the wickets. I think the batting chemistry between the two of us is fantastic. We rotate the strike well. And in T20 if you can do 50-60 partnership it can put you in the winnings side."
Admitting the importance of having consistency in the performance, the 30-year-old said that he had just tried to give a solid start to his side so as to make it easier for the middle-order batsmen to chase down the score.

The KKR batsman added, “It is important to get a good start. So as soon as I started hitting the ball I think that let me try and take advantage of it. I stick to my plan and happy to get 60 in the first six. So, it is important to get that kind of a start to keep momentum with us and keep it away from opponents."
Uthappa’s opening partner Gautam Gambhir, who has been terrific this season, currently holds the orange cap. Gambhir and Uthappa had a tremendous understanding between them as their running between the wickets in the game against Kings XI Punjab was outstanding.
The Kolkata Knight Riders, who registered their third win in the four games, are currently leading the IPL points table. The Gujarat Lions have played a game less but have the same points tally as KKR and are the only unbeaten side in the tournament right now.
The next game for the Kolkata team is against the Rising Pune Supergiants in Pune on Sunday and the side will surely be looking at Uthappa and Gambhir to give them a great start.
