IPL 2016 - Stats: All-round Stoinis helps KXIP to a thrilling victory over DD

The Delhi Daredevils arrived in Mohali looking to rebound from a disappointing performance against Rising Pune Supergiants. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab were seeking back to back victories under new captain Murali Vijay.

Delhi skipper Zaheer Khan returned and opted to have a bowl upon calling correctly. Though Hashim Amla‘s IPL debut did not turn out to be a memorable one, Kings XI rode on fifties from Marcus Stoinis and Wriddhiman Saha to register a formidable total.

When it looked like Quinton de Kock and Sanju Samson were carving away at the total, Stoinis came back with the ball to scalp key wickets. Mohit Sharma delivered one yorker after another in the death overs as Delhi Daredevils imploded badly to succumb to a 9-run loss.

3 – Batsmen scoring exactly 52 runs in this match. Marcus Stoinis, Wriddhiman Saha and Quinton de Kock were the batsmen who made it the third instance of three batsmen with the same fifty-plus score during an IPL match.

10 – Run-outs caused by the Daredevils fielders which is the most in this IPL. Their batting lineup has been involved in only 3 run-outs which is also the lowest, this season.

11 – Half-centuries for Saha in his T20 career. He has played 141 matches and scored 2257 runs with also a hundred.

17 –  Consecutive matches in which the captain winning the toss opted to field in this IPL. The record also backs up the recent trend with the chasing teams prevailing on 10 of those occasions.

19 – Number of innings since Saha’s previous half-century in the IPL. During the final of the 2014 edition, the wicket-keeper batsman had scored an unbeaten 115 against Kolkata Knightriders.

25 – Runs scored by Saha from the last 9 balls of his innings. He had reached 24 from 19 deliveries before finally deciding to increase his scoring rate.

28 – Runs conceded by Kings XI bowlers in the last two overs of the Power Play. In the four preceding overs, the Delhi batsmen could only score 23 runs.

52 – Stoinis’ knock was his highest in T20s. Before this, the Australian all-rounder had played 23 T20 matches with only one fifty to his name.
