Kohli continues to shatter records

Quinton de Kock’s maiden IPL century and third in T20s, overshadowed fifties from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers and helped Delhi Daredevils beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in Bengaluru.

Kohli and AB were involved in a century partnership for the second wicket and added their second fifty of the current edition of IPL to help Royal Challengers Bangalore post 191.

In reply, Quinton de Kock smoked the maiden century of this year’s IPL and he was ably supported by a fifty from Karun Nair and it was the pair who helped their side make it two wins out of three in this year’s competition.

Here are some interesting numbers from the game:

1 – Virat Kohli becomes the first batsman to score 75 or more in 4 consecutive T20 innings. His last four scores in T20s is 82* 89* 75 79.

2 – At 23 years and 122 days, Quinton de Kock became the second-youngest IPL centurion after Manish Pandey, who was only 19 years and 253 days when he scored his.

2 – The partnership between AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli is now the second-most productive in the history of IPL. The pair have put on 1400 runs together and only the Kohli-Gayle partnership with 2136 runs, has more.

3 – AB de Villiers became the third RCB batsman, after Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli to hit 100 sixes for the side in T20s.

3 – Quinton de Kock became only the third batsman after Ahmed Shehzad and Unmukt Chand to score three T20 centuries before the age of 24.

4 – Virender Sehwag is the only Indian to have more consecutive 50+ scores in T20s than Kohli. Sehwag holds the record with 5 consecutive such scores while Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane have 4.

5 – This was AB’s fifth IPL fifty in 25 balls or less. Only David Warner (7) and Virender Sehwag (6) have more fifties in 25 balls or fewer.

7 – Of Chris Gayle’s last 10 T20 innings, 7 of them have been single-digit scores, including three ducks. In the other three innings, he has scores of 37, 60, and 100*.

9 – This was Virat Kohli’s ninth fifty has hit in just 14 T20 innings in 2016. He averages in excess of 125 and has a strike rate of over 140 in his 14 T20 innings.

10 – This was the 10th century partnership in IPL involving Virat Kohli. This was his sixth 100 run partnership with AB de Villiers, he also has six more such partnerships with Gayle. Among players involved in most century partnerships in IPL history, Kohli is second with 10, with Gayle (12) leading the pack.

22 – Quinton de Kock took just 22 balls to get to his fifty. This is the second fastest of this IPL behind David Warner’s 21-ball fifty against Royal Challengers. This is also the third-fastest fifty in IPL by a Delhi Daredevils batsman, behind Virender Sehwag, who has a fifty off 20 and 21 balls.

27 – RCB could only manage 27 runs in the last four overs, after scoring 164 in the previous 16 overs. I the end, that was what cost them the game.

37- Only Gautam Gambhir with 41 fifties has more 50+ scores without a century in T20 cricket than Kohli. The right-hander now has 37 fifties in T20s without a century.

50 – Zaheer Khan conceded 50 runs in his four overs. This was his second most expensive spell in T20s. The only other occasion in which he conceded more was against KKR in 2011 when he gave away 53 runs.

63 – RCB’s 63 runs in the Powerplay is the highest in this year’s IPL. The previous highest was 62, scored by Gujarat Lions against Rising Pune Supergiants.

108 – Quinton de Kock’s 108 is highest score by a Delhi Daredevils batsman against RCB in the IPL. The record was previously held by Gautam Gambhir, who scored 86 in 2008. This was also the first time since 2012 when Warner scored an unbeaten 109 against DC that a Daredevils player had scored an IPL century.

134 – The partnership between Quinton de Kock and Karun Nair is the highest for any Delhi Daredevils pair against RCB. Those runs came off just 76 balls.

192 – This is the highest successful run chase for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. Their previous highest chase was the 188 they managed against Deccan Chargers in 2012.

2010 – This is Daredevils' first win over RCB since April 2010.
