IPL 2016, Stats: Warner, Cutting hand Sunrisers Hyderabad first IPL title after beating RCB by 8 runs
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) laid hands on their first ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs at Bangalore on Sunday. After making an odd choice of batting first, David Warner led his side from the front to take SRH to a commanding total of 208.
Shane Watson, who was one of the best bowlers of the tournament for RCB, had a disappointing outing as he conceded 61 runs in his bowling spell. In reply, Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle put on a good opening partnership. However, RCB collapsed and failed to build on the start made by the openers.
Kohli, who has been in the form of his life, will feel hard done by after not being able to lift the trophy with his resurgent side. On the other hand, Warner has also been a vital cog in the SRH engine and it cannot be denied that the Australian deserved the IPL title equally.
Here are the major stats from the game:
