IPL 2016: Sunrisers Hyderabad sweat on Yuvraj Singh's return

The moment where it all started- Yuvraj Singh receiving treatment after he injured his ankle

The IPL is yet to start but Sunrisers Hyderabad are already finding themselves on the back foot with Yuvraj Singh, their star batsman, still not fit to play.

At a time, when the Sunrisers, who have been the consistent under-performers in the last couple IPLs, were desperate to do well this IPL, Yuvraj injury now seem to ruin much of their plans to kick start the IPL with a bang.

During India’s World T20 match against Australia, Yuvraj hurt his ankle, which ruled him out of the tournament.

With only five days to go before their opening match against the mighty Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad are keeping their fingers crossed over the availability of their star player, who was bought for a hefty amount Rs 7 crore in the IPL auction.

Despite the on-going speculations over Yuvraj’s twisted ankle, Sunrisers officials are trying their best to remain tight-lipped about the developments.

However, reports suggest that the left-hander could well miss the first couple of games.

According to sources, Yuvraj might also not be available for the scheduled press conference where the new signings are supposed to be unveiled.

Earlier, Yuvraj shared a picture on Instagram where he was seen lifting weights despite wearing a plaster on his right leg.

Look forward don't look back! Keep going @youwecan

The picture fuelled speculations that he is still far from being cent per cent fit. This became a worrying factor for the Sunrisers thinktank, who were expecting a lot from the superstar.

VVS Laxman, the team mentor told the media that there is no confirmation on whether Yuvraj will play or not. But the veteran suggested that things will get clear pretty soon. "It won't be proper to say anything at this stage as we don't have any confirmation about Yuvraj. We are hoping to have a clear picture by Friday afternoon. We are hopeful that he will be with us from the first game itself."
