IPL 2016: Umar Akmal erroneously mentions PSL instead of IPL on Twitter

Umar Akmal made a blooper while congratulating David Warner on Twitter

The inaugural version of the Pakistan Super League took place earlier this year and it seems that the Pakistan cricketers still haven't yet come out of it. The acronym PSL is still circulating in their heads and recently the acronym made headlines in a bizarre manner. Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal took to Twitter to congratulate the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner for their IPL 2016 triumph last night and posted a message. But the right-handed batsman made a huge blooper as he used the hashtag #pslfinal instead of IPL and was trolled heavily.

IPL and PSL- Only the letters ‘P’ and ‘L’ match and that seemed to have put Akmal in a fix as he wrote the post. The most intriguing fact is that he missed a current topic like the IPL final and referred to something like the PSL final which happened on 23rd February. Islamabad United won the PSL final by beating Quetta Gladiators. Umar played for the Lahore Qalandars in the tournament finished as the leading run-scorer with 335 runs at an average of 83.75 and also took the most catches in the tournament with 7.

Then after getting slammed by cricket fans and followers for the mistake, Umar edited his original tweet

Flooded with a series of messages, the 26-year-old cricketer even asked a user to ‘behave’

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner didn’t even feature in the PSL final and it seems that Umar hasn’t yet got over the tournament in which he did exceptionally well. Later he failed to replicate his performances for the Pakistan national side as the men in green crashed out of the Asia Cup 2016 and ICC T20 World Cup 2016 in dismal fashion.

Some may call the error as a ‘typo’ but the difference in the acronyms is giving the story a hilarious angle. Pakistan cricketers have been made the butt of jokes in the past and this recent act by Umar will only add fuel to the series of trolls.
