IPL 2016: Virender Sehwag praises run-machine Virat Kohli on Twitter

Virat Kohli is the highest run-getter in any season of the Indian Premier League with 752 runs so far

Virat Kohli just won’t stop surprising people with his performances with the bat. He has been in tremendous form since the beginning of this year and continues to amaze even the greatest legends of the cricketing fraternity. The 27-year-old batsman has received praise from cricketers around the world for his brilliant batting displays.

With each game, the dictionary is running short of words to describe the Indian batting-star. Former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag, tweeted praises for Kohli in a creative way after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s successful chase against Kolkata last night. Virat Kohli’s 75 not out and De Villiers’ 59 not out guided RCB to a 9-wicket win, chasing down 183 with eight balls to spare.

Sehwag used the famous dialogue from the Bollywood movie, Don, with a little twist. He tweeted, “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai, par @imVkohli jaise chase karte hain, Don ko bhi pakad sakte hain. (It is not just difficult, but impossible to catch Don. But with the way Virat Kohli chases, he can even catch Don).”

Kohli has always been a successful chaser for India in the One Day International’s but 2016 has shown Kohli as one of the greatest batters in cricket even in the shortest format. He has scored 553 runs in 10 innings, averaging 138.25 at a strike rate of 137.22 batting second. He also has a highest score of 108 not out, and five fifty-plus scores in chases.

The RCB skipper has always said that he enjoys playing under pressure because it gives him a better understanding of how to time his innings, leaving no room for error. His statistics definitely reflect his thoughts.

The Royal Challengers need to win their final two games to qualify for the playoffs this season. In the post-match presentation last night, Kohli’s side are scheduled to play the Kings XI Punjab before they wrap up their group stage games with a clash against the Delhi Daredevils on 22 May.
