IPL 2017: 5 possible replacements for KL Rahul in RCB's batting line-up

The Indian Premier League is set to kick off in a couple of days with defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on last year’s finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first game of the season.

RCB who have never won the title in the past would be looking to do so with their star-studded line-up. However, they have their task cut out as KL Rahul was ruled out of the entire season due to a shoulder injury he picked up in the recently concluded Test series between India and Australia.

With Virat Kohli set to miss the first few matches as well due to a similar reason, RCB would be looking to rope in a batsman to replace KL Rahul either at the top of the order or in the middle order.

Here are the 5 possible replacements for the 24-year-old

#5 Virat Singh

This 19-year-old came into the limelight for his exceptional performances for East Zone in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. With two unbeaten fifties which included a 48 ball 74 in the final of the tournament, he helped his side lift the trophy.

He made his first-class debut for Jharkhand when he was just 16 years old and despite not performing too well in the longer format of the game, he has been consistent at the T20 level.

He has played a total of 28 domestic T20 matches where he has scored 646 runs at an average of 26.91 with three half centuries to his name. With the form he has showed over the past few months, this youngster could be the ideal replacement for Rahul in RCB’s batting line-up.
