IPL 2017 Fantasy Tips: Delhi Daredevils vs Gujarat Lions

Given Morris’s all-round potential, he is never far away from being amongst the points

Transfers made – 0; Transfers remaining – 14

(Uncapped) Kuldeep Yadav out – Basil Thampi in

Uncapped preference order: 1. Basil Thampi 2. Shreyas Iyer 3. Ishan Kishan 4. Ankit Soni

Captain – Chris Morris

Differential – Rishabh Pant

With Sam Billings leaving for England duty and no clear information yet on Zaheer Khan’s return, Pat Cummins coming in for Rabada is the only change I expect from Delhi Daredevils today. Gujarat Lions, on the other hand, have no option but to stick with their underperforming overseas players, as their other options, with the exception of Chirag Suri, are either injured or unavailable.

Coming to the fantasy side of it, I already have Sanju Samson, Chris Morris and Suresh Raina in my team for the match. Brendon McCullum and Rishabh Pant are the only other options worth considering, but since I am neither going to captain nor take any of them to their next match, I am not interested in bringing them in.

If you are looking for one of them, however, Pant appears to be the better choice: his recent promotion to No.3 should be a permanent move and could help him become more consistent. It is also easier to carry him around to his next match as compared to McCullum, who isn’t looking as convincing now as he was in the first half of the season.

Guru’s team for DD vs GL

Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, James Faulkner all could get a couple of wickets, but unless you plan on carrying them for the rest of the season, I would advise against picking them. These are not impact picks, and hence you need to persist with them for over 3 matches to get acceptable returns.

Raina was picked primarily keeping in mind his last match opponent, Rising Pune Supergiant, and I don’t expect much from him today, as a bowling attack of Morris, Cummins/Rabada and Shami could easily bounce him out. The left-hander needs to have a fair share of luck going his way to contribute in this fixture.

Between the other two capped players left in my team – Samson and Morris, the latter is easily the best captaincy option. While the 30-year-old may not have done much in the last 3 matches, given his all-round potential, he is never far away from being amongst the points.

And this could be a very good time for converting the easiest points you can get in the league into a differential, considering some may have lost hope on him.
