IPL 2017 Fantasy Tips: Delhi Daredevils vs Rising Pune Supergiant

Ben Stokes has been superb for Pune in IPL 2017

Transfers made – 0; Transfers remaining – 3

(Uncapped) Siddarth Kaul out – Basil Thampi in (uncapped trick employed to fit combination)

Differential – Corey Anderson

Captain – Ben Stokes

WIth Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant and Ben Stokes already in, the only other capped player who could add value to my team in this match is Steve Smith. But the fact that the 27-year-old has consistently failed to convert his starts since the season opener and that I am not going to captain him, either way, makes me decide against selecting him.

Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair, on the other hand, have shown no signs of turning their season fortunes around, which rules both of them out. I stick to what I said on Pat Cummins and Corey Anderson in my last Delhi Daredevils article – hold on to them till the last league match and you will get a performance that justifies it.

Anderson, in particular, seems to be getting better with every match and could go big any time, especially with his dual role.

Although Lockie Ferguson produced a Man of the Match performance in his last game, with their pace bowling unit doing well, the Rising Pune Supergiant management should be looking at replacing Imran Tahir, who has left the tournament for national duty, with Adam Zampa. There is an outside chance of Daredevils trying out Murugan Ashwin and Chama Milind in place of the underperforming senior players, Mohammed Shami and Amit Mishra.

Among the uncapped players, Rahul Tripathi is easily the best pick. Shreyas Iyer could do well, too, but as has been said a number of times before, it would be subject to how soon he comes to the crease. Washington Sundar pales in comparison to these two.
