IPL 2017: Moises Henriques says he has no idea about Mustafizur Rahman playing for SRH this season

Mustafizur played a key role in Sunrisers winning the League last year

What’s the story?

Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has said he still does not have any idea as to when Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman would join the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2017 season of the Indian Premier League.

“I don’t have enough clarity on that, unfortunately. I have no idea what’s going on. I didn't even know he wasn’t here until I got here,” Henriques told Sportskeeda.

In case you didn’t know...

The youngster is at the moment with his national side in Sri Lanka looking to help them make it 1-1 in the T20I series. The second game is lined up for Thursday and he will need to play an important role if their side is to equalise the series and finish the tour on a high.

The heart of the matter

A few days back, the head coach of the Sunrisers- Tom Moody- had said that the 21-year-old was expected to join the side on the 7th of April unless of course, the Bangladesh Cricket Board change their mind, adding that there was nothing yet official about the news.

In his maiden season of the IPL, the Bangladeshi bowler claimed 17 wickets in 16 matches, playing a critical role in the side lifting their maiden IPL title. One of best spells of bowling came against the Mumbai Indians when he picked up figures of 3 for 16 in 4 overs to help bundle the opposition out for a small total.

What’s next?

The defending champions play their next game against the Gujarat Lions at home on Monday and it will be interesting to see whether Mustafizur joins the team ahead of the game. His presence will surely boost the bowling attack of the David Warner-led side, who already seem to have found another star in the form of Rashid Khan during the opening game on Wednesday night.

Author’s take

The confusion over whether Mustafizur will play the second home against the Lions may have now taken a bit more of a twist. Hopefully, the bowler can make it to the squad ahead of the second game since his presence would add colour not just the Bangladeshi attack, but to the tournament in general.
