Both Jadeja and Umesh who played an extremely important role in India’s successful Test season toiled extremely hard and were extremely busy over the past 9 months or so. Having bowled over 4000 deliveries in the entire season, Jadeja would need some rest before he comes out to take the field in the IPL for the Gujarat Lions.

He was phenomenal in the series against Australia in the recently concluded 4 match Test series which India won 2-1. He was awarded the Man of the Series award for picking up 25 wickets and scoring 127 runs with two fifties to his name.

On the other hand, Umesh who was India’s spearhead bowler in 12 out of the 13 Tests India played toiled extremely hard on unresponsive pitches would also need some rest before he kick starts his campaign with the Kolkata Knight Riders. He picked up 17 wickets in 8 innings against the Kangaroos at an average of 23.41.

He has turned over a new leaf over the past year or so and has become one of the most effective bowlers in the side. The pace and accuracy with which he is able to bowl is a wonderful sight for the fans and KKR would surely miss him in their bowling department for the first three weeks.

This news has come in a few days after the Indian Test captain Virat Kohli was ruled out of the first few matches of the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s campaign due to the shoulder injury he picked up in the third Test against Australia in Ranchi. Indian batting star KL Rahul too was ruled out of the IPL earlier today with a shoulder injury thus leaving a big hole in Bangalore’s batting line-up.

With the ICC Champions Trophy set to begin on June 1 in England, it is vital that the Indian cricket team goes into the tournament with a full strength squad and not take any chances with their players.
