IPL 2017 Stats: Records broken by David Warner during his 126 against the Kolkata Knight Riders

The Sunrisers Hyderabad, after five years of participation in the IPL, finally found its first centurion: the honour deservedly going to their captain, David Warner.

Hyderabad kept their unbeaten home run intact with a crushing win over the Kolkata Knight Riders: the architect of the victory was Warner, and his swashbuckling 126 that flattened the KKR bowling attack.

It is surprising that Warner hadn’t yet scored a century for the Sunrisers, having given them blistering starts over the years, in combination with Shikhar Dhawan at the top. He had scored an unbeaten 93 against the Gujarat Lions last year, which was till yesterday the highest score by an SRH player.

On Sunday, his whirlwind 126 off just 59 balls, set the platform for the Hyderabad side to amass 200 plus in the first innings, and eventually win the game by a comfortable 48 runs.

These are the prominent records Warner broke on the way to his third IPL hundred:

43 - Number of deliveries faced by Warner to score a century. It is the fastest century by a captain ever in the IPL. The record was previously held by Virat Kohli, who scored one of his four centuries in the IPL against KXIP last year in 47 balls.

It is also the fourth fastest century ever in the IPL.

20 - Number of deliveries taken by Warner to complete his first fifty runs - it is the record for the fastest 50 by a Sunrisers Hyderabad player.

1 - Warner became the first SRH player to score a century in the IPL. This is Warner’s third hundred.

126 - This is now the highest score by a captain in the IPL. Warner broke Virender Sehwag’s record, who had scored 119 for DD against the Deccan Chargers in 2011.

1123 - Number of runs scored by Warner in the IPL at Hyderabad, becoming only the ninth player to have scored more than 1000 runs at one particular IPL venue.

156 - Number of sixes hit by Warner in the IPL: he is now fourth on the list, with the likes of Chris Gayle, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma ahead of him.

2000 - David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan became the first opening pair to score more than 2000 runs in the IPL. They now have a combined 2090 runs.

19 – The number of sixes hit by Warner in the IPL 2017, the most by any player.
