In case you didn’t know...
The right-arm fast bowler is not the only Indian player to deal with injury woes ahead of the 10th edition of the IPL. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are set to miss the initial phase of the IPL whereas opener KL Rahul and this season’s highest wicket-taker Ravichandran Ashwin are set to sit out of the tournament.

Earlier this week, BCCI revealed that pacer Umesh Yadav who was instrumental in India’s success this season had sustained an injury to his right hip and also suffered from a sore back. The BCCI had also added that Yadav will be back in the reckoning from the second week of April.
The details
Umesh Yadav has been pivotal in the Indian team’s bowling attack for quite some time now. The speedster who can consistently clock in excess of 140 kmph is the only Indian pacer in the KKR outfit who has played in the international arena.
However, in the aftermath of the physically exhausting Test season, Yadav is set to be sidelined for the first two matches of the tournament. The CEO of the KKR team, Mysore, said that Yadav will eventually join the team on the 10th of April.
When he was questioned further, he confirmed that Yadav, who took 17 wickets against the gritty Aussies last month, will be fit and likely to be available for selection for their first match at home against the Glenn Maxwell-led Kings XI Punjab on 13th of April.
What’s next?
The Knight Riders are set to play their first game on 7th of April against the Gujarat Lions at Rajkot and then will travel to Mumbai to face the 2-time IPL winners, Mumbai Indians. It will be followed by a couple of home games in a span of 3 days and Yadav is expected to stage a comeback in those home games at the Eden Gardens.
