Foreign players are a vital cog in the wheel of any IPL team. Their performances are crucial to their team's chances in the IPL.

In this year's IPL there has been some excellent match winning knocks by Shane Watson, AB De Villers, and Chris Gayle.

On the other hand, there are a few players who are struggling to perform. These players have been bought for exorbitant sums and it is painful to see them underperform.

Due to lack of options, some teams have persisted with these players while others have replaced them with better players.

Here are the three foreign players who have miserably failed in this year's IPL:

#3 Kieron Pollard

When Mumbai Indians picked up Kiron Pollard with the RTM card, there were huge expectations from the burly all-rounder.

His poor show in this year's IPL is one of the reasons why Mumbai Indians are struggling in the tournament.

Playing in this IPL as a batsman, he was supposed to play the role of a finisher and add impetus to the end of the innings.

In his ninth season at Mumbai, Pollard has failed to impress. In the six matches that he has played so far, he has scored only 63 runs at an average of 15.75.

After his failure in the last match, MI coach Mahela Jayawardene expressed disappointment with regards to Pollard's performance.

It is sad to see the explosive Pollard struggling to time the ball.

The team management has given enough chances to Pollard to prove his worth and they gave JP Duminy a chance to start in this year's IPL against Chennai Superkings.
