IPL 2018: 5 Big-ticket signings who failed in this week
Another week of this IPL has ticked off and it has once again been another exciting week. Once again there have been a lot of tight finishes and matches have gone down to the wire.
In this week, Sunrisers Hyderabad have reversed the trend and have defended a sub-par score three times.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings chased 206 against Royal Challengers Bangalore despite being 74/4 at one stage. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils have got back to winning ways.
Hence, there have been some brilliant individual performances throughout the week. MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 70 to take CSK home against RCB, Shreyas Iyer’s excellent 93 on captaincy debut, Rashid Khan’s superb display while defending totals have been some of the highlights of the week.
However, there have also been under-par performances from some of the big names. Hence, we look at 5 big-ticket signing who failed to perform in this week of the IPL.
#5 Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey has had a quite disappointing season so far. Despite scoring two fifties, he has largely struggled and hasn’t been able to the kind of impact Sunrisers would’ve expected.
Pandey has become a regular member of the Indian T20 squad. Coming into this IPL the Karnataka batsman was in very good form.
In 2018, he has scored 255 runs at an average of 85.00 in 7 innings for India. However, he failed to replicate the form for the Hyderabad franchise.
After an indifferent first couple of weeks, Pandey bagged a duck against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in SRH’s fifth game.
He then scratched his way to 16 against Mumbai Indians. He did score a 54 against Kings XI Punjab but he largely struggled in that innings as he took 51 balls to score that 54. But that resulted in a win for SRH.
He ended the week with another scratchy innings as he made 16 in 15 deliveries against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur.
Overall, Pandey has scored at a low strike-rate of 112.85 in this IPL and was disappointing in this week.
