With the IPL purse increased to Rs. 80 crore up from previous year's amount of Rs. 66 crore, the players are waiting for a big payday at the end of this month. Year on year, the cash-rich league has seen very intense auctions with bidding wars for some of the most impactful cricketers. The franchise owners sitting at the auction don't think twice to go all-out for a particular player and every other season has thrown surprises with some players being sold for as high as Rs. 15 crore.
Yuvraj Singh became the first player to cross Rs. 15 crore mark when he was bought by Delhi Daredevils in the 2015 edition. In the 2017 edition, Ben Stokes took home Rs. 14.5 crore and became the second most expensive player in the league.
Currently, Virat Kohli is the most expensive player in the league after RCB retained him for Rs. 17 crore. This year will be no different as the auction is bound to throw surprises again and possibly the most expensive player can cross the Rs. 20 crore mark owing to an increased purse from the previous edition.
Here are some players who are capable of crossing the Rs. 20 crore mark at the auction this year.
#5 Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo, the West Indian all-rounder is one of the most impactful players in the shortest format of the game. CSK preferring Ravindra Jadeja over Dwayne Bravo for retention was a decision that left everyone surprised.
In the ongoing Big Bash League, playing for Melbourne Renegades, he has taken 12 wickets in just 5 matches and is placed second on the list of highest wicket-takers right behind Andrew Tye who is two wickets ahead.
Bravo has been delivering consistently with the ball in T20s, fetching regular breakthroughs even in the pressure situations. Recently he became the first bowler to take 400 wickets in T20s. Lasith Malinga who has taken 331 wickets has the second most numbers of wickets and is 76 wickets behind Bravo.
In the IPL he has taken 122 wickets in 106 matches and is placed 5th on the list of all-time highest wicket-takers. He is the only player along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar to win two Purple caps, having won it in 2013 and 2015, both times playing for CSK.
He is one of the best death overs' bowler in T20s at present, making him a player who can leave the franchises in a bidding war.
