IPL 2018 Auction: CSK get trolled for not utilizing funds completely
The 2018 IPL Auction saw a roster of International, national and uncapped players go under the hammer on 27th and 28th January in Bengaluru. Some prominent figures (Hashim Amla, Joe Root) of the current game going unsold, startled the entire cricket fraternity around the globe. It was expected that their knack of the white ball format will not go unrecognized in the eyes of the bidders.
As predicted, many eye-popping bids were made in the two-day event. Rajasthan Royals had the spotlight on themselves by making the two biggest buys of the event, England all-rounder Ben Stokes at Rs 12.5 Crore and Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat at Rs 11.5 Crore.
However, some franchises were lucky enough to get the likes of marquee players at a bargain price like Faf Du Plessis for Chennai Super Kings, Colin Munro for Delhi Daredevils.
As it happened, CSK managed to get back its core in the auction. The off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will not be a part of the CSK’s IPL journey for this upcoming season. This has come as a huge disappointment to a chunk of their fans. However, the franchise managed to bag some quality spinners into their side which includes the ICC ODI top-ranked bowler Imran Tahir and the much experienced off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.
The team seems to be one of the strongest teams on paper. But they got trolled on Twitter, as they picked most of the players above 30 years of age.
Here is a list of CSK players who are above 30 years old:
