IPL: Bangladesh Players who were once part of IPL

In the last five years, Bangladesh Cricket team has grown leaps and bounds in international cricket. They stand 7th in ICC ODI rankings, well above Sri Lanka and West Indies. Their players are full of confidence and it is very evident that they can handle any situation and opposition.

The star duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are the only two Bangladeshi players featuring in IPL 2018. In fact, Shakib has been the only consistent player from Bangladesh to play in IPL since 2011.

Apart from the above two, few other Bangladeshi players have delivered mixed performances in the IPL so far. Here is a detailed analysis of the performance of those players.

Bangladesh's leading run scorer hasn't played a single IPL match

Tamim Iqbal has been the leading run scorer for Bangladesh in international cricket across all formats. He is the only Bangladeshi batsman to score a century in all three formats, which quantifies his prowess as a batsman. Along with Sanath Jayasuriya and Virender Sehwag, Tamim has been one of the most aggressive openers from the subcontinent.

Tamim Iqbal was signed by Pune Warriors India in IPL 2012 and 2013 but failed to play a single match for the franchise. Pune finished 8th and 9th in 2012 and 2013 editions of IPL respectively. Later in 2013, Pune withdrew from IPL citing a financial dispute with BCCI.

However, the elegant left-hander has been successfully plying his trade in T20 leagues across the globe and can still prove to be a reliable opener for any IPL team.
