Chris Gayle (Kings XI Punjab)

Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss played for the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise for the first three editions of the IPL. After that, he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore for seven seasons and had a highly successful stint with them. Gayle won the Orange Cap for the highest run-scorer twice during his stay at RCB (in 2011 and 2012).

After a mediocre 2017 season, he was released by them prior to the 2018 auctions. The Kings XI Punjab bought Gayle at his base price for INR 2 crore.

It was a surprise that a batsman like Gayle remained unsold for the most part of the auctions. Considering his form in this season, this is a bargain-buy for the Kings XI, who are one of the title contenders in the season eleven.

Gayle, who did not feature in the first three Punjab games, announced his arrival in style against the Chennai Super Kings. In four matches so far, the flamboyant Jamaican has scored 252 runs at a strike-rate of 161.53, that includes two half-centuries and an astonishing century.
