D'Arcy Short, despite his poor returns in the first four matches of the tournament, will retain his place in the side, while skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who has proved his doubters wrong with one swashbuckling performance after another, will accompany him. Rahane, however, would want to convert his starts into big scores.
Sanju Samson, RR's best performer thus far, will come in at number three, followed by the English duo of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. A lot was expected from these two, however, they have failed to dominate the bowlers in the four matches that they have played. Rahul Tripathi is expected to walk in at six, however, depending upon the match situation, he might be promoted up the order.
K Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal, who dismantled RCB, will handle the spin department, while Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni and Ben Laughlin will form the pace battery.
As the hosts and the visitors are fourth and fifth on the table respectively, the team winning tonight would take a step towards consolidating its place in the top four. While CSK will welcome Suresh Rajna back in their starting XI, the Rajasthan-based franchise is expected to go in with the same XI.
