IPL 2018, DD vs MI, Match Prediction: Who will win the match between Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians
The Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Daredevils away from home in a do-or-die encounter, with a win most likely taking them to the playoffs and a loss sending them back home. They are currently on 12 points after 13 games, with six wins and seven losses to their name.
However, they have won four out of their previous five matches and will look to get another win under their belt and qualify for the knockout stages.
The Mumbai Indians bowled extremely well in the death against the Kings XI Punjab in their previous encounter as they successfully defended 187, despite KL Rahul almost scoring a century.
Kieron Pollard, who came back into the side for their previous encounter, scored a fantastic half-century which helped Mumbai score 186. He was helped by Krunal Pandya, who scored 32 runs.
On the other hand, the Delhi Daredevils, who are already knocked out of the tournament, achieved a comfortable win against the Chennai Super Kings in their previous encounter at home. They will look to carry on their momentum and spoil the party for the defending champions.
Despite scoring just 162 runs, they were able to defend the total with some tight bowling throughout the innings.
This will be the penultimate match of the round-robin stage of the IPL.
Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi

If Delhi Daredevils bat first:
Predicted score: 170+
The Daredevils' strength has been their batting, apart from the last game, of course. The trio of Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, have all played extremely well in the tournament so far. Pant, especially, has been in supreme form, scoring runs with ease.
He became the first Indian to score a century this season and is one of the contenders for the Orange Cap. We could expect them to come out all guns blazing in their final match of the tournament and score around 170-180 runs if they bat first.
If Mumbai Indians bat first
Predicted score: 170+
Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, the rest of the top order has not been able to perform consistently. Rohit Sharma, especially, has had an extremely poor tournament so far. However, we could expect him to come to the party in the final game before the playoffs.
The Daredevils bowlers have not had the best season and the Mumbai batsmen will look to take full advantage of that. We could expect them to score around 170-180 runs as well.
Final prediction:
Despite the Daredevils playing extremely well in their previous match, we could expect the Mumbai Indians to achieve the vital win and qualify for the playoffs. They have always performed extremely well under pressure as we have seen in the previous seasons. Hence, we could expect the defending champions to come out in this do-or-die encounter.
