IPL 2018, DD vs RCB, Match Prediction: Who will win the match between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore
The bottom two sides of the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League will take on each other at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on May 12. While the Royal Challengers Bangalore still have something to play for, the Delhi Daredevils have no chance of reaching the playoffs this year.
The Daredevils, who have consistently performed well with the bat, have failed in the bowling department on numerous occasions and have thus won only three out of the eleven matches they have played so far.
The batting trio of Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, have all performed exceptionally well. Pant became the first Indian to score a century in this year's IPL when he smashed 128 off 63 deliveries. Unfortunately, his knock went in vain as the Sunrisers were able to chase down the target of 188 with ease. Their bowling has been a let down as they have not been able to defend the totals which have been set. The bowlers have leaked too many runs and they have not been able to pick up wickets at regular intervals.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore, too, have had a season to forget, winning just three out of the ten matches they have played so far. They have faced issues in all three departments of the game. When their batting clicked, their bowling did not and vice-versa.
They are still mathematically in the contention for a spot in the playoffs, however, they will need to win their four remaining matches and also hope for a few results to go their way.
They were in a great position to win their previous encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, they were unable to take on their bowlers and thus, failed to chase down the target of 147 set by the Sunrisers.
Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi
Date: May 12, 2018

If Delhi Daredevils bat first:
Predicted score: 180+
Given the strength in their batting department, the Daredevils will look to attack the RCB bowling right from the beginning and post a big score. Prithvi Shaw, who failed to get going in the previous match, will look to make amends and get DD off to a great start along with Jason Roy.
Shreyas Iyer was run-out in unfortunate fashion the previous match and will also look to get going this time around. Meanwhile, Orange Cap holder Pant will look to continue his supreme run of form and have a go at the RCB bowlers. We could surely expect them to cross the 180 run mark. given that the pitch was assisting the batsmen the last time they played here.
If Royal Challengers Bangalore bat first:
Predicted score: 180+
The RCB batsmen failed to chase down the modest total of 147 in the previous game and hence, will look to go all guns blazing this time around. It is a do-or-die encounter for Men in Red and we could expect them to come to the party.
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will need to step up and ensure that RCB score a big total if they bat first. Colin de Grandhomme, who has performed well lower down the order, will look to provide the finishing touch once again. We could expect RCB as well to score more than 180 if they bat first.
Final prediction:
With RCB in a do-or-die situation, we could expect them to pull this one off against the Delhi based franchise, who have virtually been knocked out of the tournament. If they win, they could move up to the sixth position.
