IPL 2018: DD vs RR, Delhi Daredevils (DD) probable playing XI against Rajasthan Royals (RR)

DD need to
DD need to win every match to stand a chance of making it to the playoff

After overpowering Kolkata Knight Riders in Shreyas Iyer's first match as their captain, Delhi Daredevils fell to a 13-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the next match. If the team from the national capital are to make it to the playoffs, they'll have to win all six of their remaining games.

While DD sit on the last spot, RR, on the other hand, are placed in the sixth spot, behind CSK, SRH, Kings XI and KKR.

Daredevils are, once again, set to open with Prithvi Shaw and Colin Munro, both of whom got decent starts against CSK but failed to capitalise. Against Rajasthan, though, they'd want to do the bulk of scoring for their side and provide them with a swift start.

With every match now a do-or-die encounter, a lot would depend on the pair of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, who have been Daredevils' flagbearer in the tournament thus far. Pant has 306 runs in eight innings while Iyer has 257 in as many matches.

If Delhi manage to qualify for the playoffs, which looks highly unlikely, these two would have to be at their brilliant best.

Glenn Maxwell was expected to be Delhi's top performer in the 2018 IPL, however, the Australian hasn't managed to get going and has only 126 runs to show in seven innings. Following him would be Vijay Shankar who played a handy knock of 54 runs to take Delhi as close to the target as possible against CSK.

Rahul Tewatia is expected to walk in next and his performance with the ball will be one to watch out as well. England's Liam Plunkett was sent to the cleaners by Shane Watson in the last match and ended up conceding 52 runs in just three overs. The Delhi management, though, might give the fast bowling all-rounder another chance to prove himself.

Trent Boult and Avesh Khan would man the fast bowling department. While the former is one of the top wicket-takers in the league with 11 wickets, youngster Avesh has bagged four wickets in the three matches that he has played.

One man who needs to step up though is Amit Mishra. The leggie has only three wickets to show for in four appearances and being one of the most experienced customers on the side, a lot is expected of him.
