Sandeep Lamichhane joins ICC World XI squad, Shakib Al Hasan withdraws
Teenage spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been added to the ICC World XI squad that will face West Indies in a one-off charity T20I game, while Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has withdrawn from the fixture. The Nepal-born Lamichhane will join the squad after the end of the IPL, for the game to be played on 31st May at Lord's.
“I am privileged to have been chosen to be part of the ICC World XI against the Windies. It is an honour for the entire country and passionate followers of Nepal cricket, as well as an indicator that we are making our mark on the international game", he told the ICC website.
“Training, sharing the dressing room and playing with some of the trendsetters who we saw on television while growing up is something I look forward to. This is an opportunity for me to learn and improve, and I am committed to cashing in on this. To play there (at Lord's) in 2016 was a memorable occasion, which I look forward to reliving later this month. I hope I will continue to get opportunities in future which, in turn, will help me improve my skills as well as my country to strengthen its position on the world cricket map", he added.
The 17-year-old is currently part of the Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing Indian Premier League and made his debut against the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore recently.
Shakib Al Hasan, who is representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, has withdrawn from the one-off game, citing personal reasons. His replacement is set to be named soon.
The proceeds from the charity fixture will fund the redevelopment of the stadiums in the Carribean that were affected by hurricanes last year.

Tamim Iqbal, Eoin Morgan (captain), Shoaib Malik, Luke Ronchi, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Thisara Perera, Shahid Afridi, Rashid Khan, Mitchell McClenaghan, Sandeep Lamichhane
