Chennai Super Kings should go in with the same XI that took the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad unless Lungi Ngidi is fit again. Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, might bring back Colin Munro to pair with Prithvi Shaw at the top or even give Manjot Kalra a chance given how well their other U19 players have done in the chances they have got so far.
If Munro does come back, he could turn out to be a decent differential – all he needs to do is escape the new ball threat of Deepak Chahar. The same applies to Jason Roy as well, with the additional issue of Ravindra Jadeja's left-arm spin. But if you are lagging and you have more than 10 subs, these are the players you should be betting on.
This is the best I have seen Rishabh Pant bat, and his ability to hit sixes at will against both pacers and spinners makes him a must-have player even if he bats down at No.4. Shreyas Iyer, too, has no real threats in the bowling line-up today, but my batting spots are already occupied, and I can afford to bring in only one of the Daredevils batsmen.
From Chennai Super Kings, Ambati Rayudu is a no-brainer. Shane Watson has a couple of threats in Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra in addition to the new ball vulnerability against Trent Boult, but I can carry him to his next match and being an all-rounder he doesn’t disturb my team combination. The shorter boundaries at the Kotla could balance things up too.
If Avesh Khan doesn’t play, it would leave the Daredevils with only one bowler in their team – Junior Dala – who is capable of bowling the lengths that Raina struggles against, so he can come good as well.
