Guru’s team ahead of MI vs DD match: R Sharma (c), E Lewis, V Kohli, S Dhawan, I Kishan, C Morris, C Munro, K Pandya, J Bumrah, M Markande, K Khejroliya
There are only a couple of things that can stop Rohit Sharma from going berserk today – Trent Boult’s new-ball spell and Mumbai Indians reacting to their two losses so far by pushing him down to No.3. And both aren’t convincing enough to keep him out of your team.
Evin Lewis showed signs of what he is capable of against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and much like Rohit, if he escapes Boult’s burst today, should go even further. If you have to choose one between the two, however, go for Rohit, as his game style is a safer bet for fantasy purpose.
Teams will start respecting Mayank Markande now after watching what he is capable of, which should adversely affect his fantasy returns. While it won’t be a complete shutdown on points, expecting windfalls like the first two matches won’t be wise.
With Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah already in and Krunal Pandya getting into the team as uncapped, that is pretty much the Mumbai side of things done.
Delhi Daredevils were well positioned to win the match against Rajasthan Royals before the rain interruption resulted in DLS giving them a ridiculous 6-over target. If they realise it, they will also understand there is no real need for them to tinker with their playing XI.
But when it comes to that, Colin Munro would be the first player in the firing line. Not just because he hasn’t scored runs, but because of the high-profile replacement in Jason Roy on the bench. There is also the LHB-RHB combination at the top that managements love to have. The Kiwi big-hitter would do well to know he is running on borrowed time.
My decision to pick one out of Maxwell and Munro was taken ahead of the last match, but if you are looking for one now, go for Maxwell. Till I get any clarity on Rishabh Pant's batting position, I don’t plan on getting him in either.
Chris Morris is one of those “banker” options who is capable of giving you steady returns every match, and once in a while stars align to see his points hit the roof, but it is difficult to predict when it exactly will be. You will just have to stick with him and hope you end up on the right side of it.
