IPL 2018: Kings XI Punjab to start their home leg earlier than expected
Kings XI Punjab haveĀ had another modification in their IPL 2018 schedule which will see their home leg kick-off earlier than expected. The Punjab-based franchise were set to start their IPL campaign against Delhi Daredevils on 8th April at the Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi. However, that match has now been shifted to IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, whereas the return leg will be played on 23rd April in the national capital.
Yesterday, KXIP were forced to shift their last four home matches to Indore. The reason behind the shift was a scheduled renovation work at the Chandigarh airport from May 12-31, which will be closed for the same.
"It is rather unfortunate that the dates had to be shuffled so late in the day," said Kings XI Punjab CEO Satish Menon.
"However, external difficulties always have to be worked around. Despite the unforeseen circumstances, we're rather excited by the prospect of starting off in Mohali. At the end of the day, both venues are home to us."
The Punjab-based team will start their campaign on 8th April against DD, followed by an away encounter against RCB on 13th. They will then play two home matches at the IS Bindra Stadium against CSK and SRH on 15th and 19th April respectively.
Three away matches, against KKR on 21st, DD on 23rd and SRH on 26th, will be followed by two back-to-back matches at their adopted home - Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore - against MI and RR on 4th and 6th May respectively.
KXIP will face off against RR again in Jaipur on 8th May before completing their home leg with matches against KKR and RCB on 12th and 14th of the month respectively. Their last two matches will be against MI and CSK, both away encounters, on 16th and 20th May.
