IPL 2018, KXIP vs SRH: Kane Williamson's dismissal is SK Turning Point of the match

Williamson fell at a crucial point in the innings

For the first time in the IPL, a captain decided to bat first after winning the toss. This happened when Ravichandran Ashwin unleashed his swashbuckling batting line-up against the brilliant bowling attack of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mohali on Thursday (April 19).

It was a blistering first-innings performance by the hosts as they raced to a total of 193-3 after 20 overs, courtesy a terrific century from Chris Gayle.

SRH got off to a horror start in the second innings, as Dhawan returned back with an injury and Saha fell for a single-digit score.

After that, their main focus naturally shifted towards saving their wickets for the latter stages of the chase.

Skipper Kane Williamson came in at No.3 and tried to steady the ship with his calm disposition and solid technique.

The Kiwi was successful with this approach, as he made a steady but effective half-century, scoring 54 runs off 41 deliveries.

However, he was dismissed at a crucial juncture in the game, where his team desperately needed him at the crease to get to the massive target set for them by KXIP.

Andrew Tye, who was a revelation for the Gujarat Lions last season, was the one to scalp the big wicket of the SRH skipper in the 15th over of the game.

Williamson left his crease to slap the knuckleball out of the ground but was caught by Aaron Finch at long-off.

His wicket put a severe dent on Sunrisers' chances of winning their fourth consecutive game of the season and ultimately, they fell to their first victory of the tournament this year.

They will now travel to Mumbai for a stern test against Rohit Sharma and his men at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday (April 24).

Kings Xi Punjab, on the other hand, will travel up north to the national capital to take on the Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Monday (April 23).
