IPL 2018: Star-studded MI who could face-off against MS Dhoni's men
The much-awaited IPL auctions, as expected, didn't cease to amaze. Quite a few stars shockingly went unsold. On the contrary, previously unknown names hit the jackpot. The auctions were as dynamic as it was expected to be and the upcoming edition of the IPL is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ones in recent times.
The Mumbai Indians will be reasonably happy coming out of the auctions, considering that they managed to retain a good chunk of their 2017 IPL winning squad.
Without further ado, let's take a look at their probably playing eleven in the upcoming edition of the IPL:
Openers
Evin Lewis & Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper)
Mumbai Indians will be delighted to have bagged the West Indian at just ₹3.8 crores. The southpaw has been touted to be the next Chris Gayle and was expected to earn big money in the auctions. However, Lewis was pulled out of the bag only on day 2 and most teams had already exhausted most of their funds by then. Mumbai Indians made good use of the scenario and bagged the destructive opener for a terrific bargain. He has already hit a T20I century in India, and will be raring to go in the IPL. The flat track at Wankhede could suit the West Indian perfectly.
Ishan Kishan at ₹6.2 crores was an overpriced purchase by the Mumbai Indians. However, it could turn out to be a good one in hindsight. He is only 19 years old and also doubles as a wicket-keeper. He led the Indian U-19 team in 2016 and has tremendous potential. He is explosive with the bat and along with Evin Lewis, could give the Mumbai Indians a flying start on many an occasion.
