IPL 2018: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils - 5 talking points

Delhi secured their first win of the season

Buoyed by an outrageous knock from Jason Roy which nearly went awry in the final over from Mustafizur Rahman, Delhi Daredevils scampered to their first win of the season, beating Mumbai Indians in their backyard by seven wickets.

Opting to bowl, Delhi were greeted by a rampant Suryakumar Yadav and an equally aggressive Evin Lewis as Mumbai raced to a century partnership in no time.

Delhi pulled things back through Rahul Tewatia before a final few good overs gave them a target just shy of 200 to chase down.

Jason Roy and Rishabh Pant then dug into Mumbai's bowlers and took them halfway through but Krunal Pandya's twin strikes rocked them.

With eleven needed off the final over, Roy seemingly sealed the game with a four and a six but three dot balls followed before he managed a single off the final ball to take Delhi through.

Promoting Suryakumar Yadav as an opener was a masterstroke

In a superb move, Mumbai Indians decided to bring Rohit Sharma back to the middle-order after he failed to impose himself in the first two games of the season.

The move brings some experience to a middle-order that seemed too dependent on two fairly newbies - Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan.

While Kishan was expected to move to the top, it was Yadav who made it to partner Evin Lewis.

The two hit it off as the former KKR man, sans his cheeky taps and scoops, blasted Delhi's bowlers to smash a half-century in a blazing century stand.

It gave Mumbai the momentum to push to a score in excess of 200 on a belter of a surface.
