IPL 2018: One player from each team who can win Emerging Player of the Season award
After the completion of the IPL, the BCCI will honour a few players with awards for their performances in the tournament. The awards will go to the player with the most runs (Orange Cap), most wickets (Purple Cap), best catch of the season, emerging player etc.
The emerging player of the season award will be given to the player who has best demonstrated, through his performance during the season, his potential to be a future star of international cricket.
There are a few criteria which the players should meet to be eligible for this award. Let us take a look at the criteria and one player from each team who can win this award this season.
- Born after April 1, 1992
- Played 5 or fewer Test matches
- Played in 25 or fewer IPL matches (as of the start of the season)
- Not previously won the Emerging Player Award
Chennai Super Kings - Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar began his 2018 IPL campaign in the best possible way as he scalped the first wicket in the tournament. He has been on a roll since then and been doing a fine job for his team.
Skipper MS Dhoni gave him the responsibility of striking with the new ball and keeping the opposition batsmen at bay early on in the innings. In the eight matches he has played in the season, he has accounted for seven wickets and more importantly, hardly given anything away, conceding runs at an economy of 7.2.
Unfortunately for him, he got injured and spent four matches on the sidelines but when he made a return, it was like he had never missed a single match for his team.
