IPL 2018: Sanju Samson opens up about India comeback
What's the story?
Rajasthan Royals star batsman, Sanju Samson, who has been in superb form in the Indian Premier League 2018 season so far, opened up about his return to the Indian cricket team.
'“I don’t see myself making a return to any team. I don’t want to see the future nor my past. All those things are not in your control. When I got selected in 2015 I never thought that I was going to be picked. Things automatically happen, you never draw a line to your goal, that’s what I figured out from my experience. I don’t want to see myself reaching there, it will automatically happen if it has to happen,” said Samson as quoted by the Hindustan Times.
In case you didn't know...
Samson kicked off his 2018 season with scores of 49 and 37 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils. He followed that up with a sensational 90 run knock against the Royal Challengers Bangalore which helped his side win the tie with ease.
The details
Samson made his debut for the Indian cricket team against Zimbabwe in 2015, however, he played only one T20I where he scored 19 and didn't feature in a single match after that series.
“The main thing which is in my control is to improve my fitness, game, cricketing skills and performance. Opportunities are always there. If you are not playing for India then it is Kerala. The domestic season is so big, plus you have the IPL, India A tours. I am not worried about selections,” continued Samson.
What's next?
Samson will look to make the most of this IPL season and be a big contender for the Orange Cap.
Author's Take
With the way Samson is performing and the ease with which he is striking the ball and finding the boundaries, he will surely be one of the batsmen to look out for in the IPL this year.
If he continues to perform the way he did in the first three matches, he could surely win the Orange Cap and get the selectors to notice him and give him another chance to play for India.
