IPL 2018: SRH v MI: Deepak Hooda's six in the last over is SK Turning Point
The full-house at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was privy to a nail-biting, thrilling finish by their home team, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, against Mumbai Indians on Thursday (April 12). Kane Williamson's men managed to clinch a one-wicket victory over Rohit Sharma and Co. and that too, in the very last delivery of the game.
It was a topsy-turvy chase and the momentum of the game kept swinging between the two sides throughout the second innings. The hosts were cruising at one point, but a sensational 18th over by Jasprit Bumrah, where he picked up two back-to-back wickets, brought the Mumbai Indians right back into the game. Mustafizur Rahman followed through on his teammate's effort and scalped a double off his over too, giving away just 1 run in the penultimate over of the game.
SRH were struggling at 137 for 9 at that point and required as many as 11 runs off the last over, which was to be bowled by the tall and imposing Ben Cutting. Deepak Hooda, who had played a pretty composed knock by then, was on strike against the Australian.
The youngster changed the dynamics of the game off the very first delivery when he slammed Cutting for a thumping six over covers. The 22-year-old did not let the pressure mount on him and calmly deposited the full toss into the stands.
It was exactly what the doctor ordered for the Men in Orange and after that, it was all about operating in singles and strolling to the target with ease. It was a tremendous shot, more so in the high-octane pressure that was mounting on the hosts.
Sunrisers Hyderabad now have two wins in their first two games of the season and they are off to a flyer under their new captain. They have been extremely dominant at home through the years and even this year, they have retained that level of supremacy in Hyderabad. After hosting two games, they will now travel to the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to play against KKR on Saturday (April 14).
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have now gone down to two losses, despite scalping nine wickets of the opposition camp in both thos games. They have lost two closely contested contests and would look to strike back soon so as to get their first win of the tournament underway.
