IPL 2018, SRH vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) probable playing XI to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

AB de Villiers will return to the playing XI against CSK

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will face table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad in a potential do-or-die encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 7. If they lose the game, they will most likely be out of contention for a spot in the playoffs of the tournament.

They have had an extremely disappointing season, winning just three out of the nine matches played so far. They achieved victories against the Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, and Mumbai Indians. However, they suffered a loss against almost every other side, a few of them by a huge margin, thus bringing their net run-rate down in the process.

They will be up against the best bowling unit in the tournament and will have to pull up their socks in order to get back to winning ways.

Let's take a look at their predicted playing XI for the game against SRH:

Parthiv Patel played his first match of the tournament against the Chennai Super Kings and was the top scorer in the match with a well-crafted half-century. With Quinton de Kock set to miss another match, Parthiv will look to make the most of his opportunity and cement his place in the side.

Brendon McCullum has come up with a few good knocks throughout the tournament but has not managed to score a single half-century. He will hope to get back to his vintage best, given the fact that RCB are in desperate need of a victory.

Virat Kohli was RCB's best batsman for the first half of the tournament but has not been at his best in the previous two games. He will need to step up and lead from the front and get a big score under his name.

AB de Villiers was in top form for RCB and held the Orange Cap for some time too. However, he was ruled out for two matches due to a viral fever and failed to make an impact in his comeback game against CSK. He has recovered now and RCB will bank on him to lead them to victory.

Mandeep Singh started off extremely well with a few good knocks, however, he has lost his way over the past few matches. He will need to get back into form and provide stability to the middle-order.

Colin de Grandhomme's performance against Mumbai Indians was one of the main reasons why RCB won the match. He failed to make an impact against CSK when he had a lot of time at the crease.

Murugan Ashwin has played two matches so far and has performed well in both of them, picking up wickets and restricting the opposition's run-rate. The team management will most likely persist with him ahead of the inconsistent Washington Sundar.

Umesh Yadav has been RCB's best bowler so far, and probably the best bowler in the Powerplay in the entire tournament. His ability to pick up quick wickets at the beginning of the innings has given RCB hope in almost all the matches they have played so far.

Tim Southee has been a welcome addition to RCB's line-up, especially during the beginning of the innings and the death. He was even one of the best batsmen for RCB in the last game.

Mohammed Siraj was quite inconsistent in the first few matches, however, he pulled up his socks in the previous two encounters and was quite effective. He will need to do much of the same in the remaining five games for RCB.

Yuzvendra Chahal has produced a few great performances with the ball, however, he has not been amongst the wickets. He will look to continue restricting the opposition's run-rate and pick up a few wickets as well.
