This past Sunday one of the most prominent leagues in cricket, the IPL completed one week duration in the 2018 season. This short period of one week has already given us an insight into the tournament. Here in this article, the First Week Stars of IPL 2018 have been discussed.

This season of IPL has witnessed a total of 3,975 runs and the batsmen have shown off their skills with the bat and we could get some future blasters in this tournament. The batsmen who have made an impact in the first week of the tournament are:

KL Rahul

If the Kings XI Punjab have had a perfect start in this season of the IPL, it was only because of Rahul. His 14-ball fifty in his first match is unforgettable. The momentum he had gained in his first match helped him to be one of the few batsmen who can win the Orange Cap at the end of this season. His innings of 47 off 30 balls was also a well played one, although he was on the losing side. He is currently the second in line for the Orange Cap with 135 runs in 3 matches.

Sanju Samson

Sanju showed off that he can be destructive whenever he wants in his last match. He smashed the Royal Challengers completely during his knock of 92 off 45 balls. His knock of 49 off 42 balls in his first match seemed like a pre-show of what he would do when on fire. He is currently the Orange Cap holder with much ahead of Rahul, who is second in line. He is also the leading six-hitter of the IPL 2018.

Surya Kumar Yadav

This Mumbai Indians player has proved himself in all the three matches he has played until now. His game has been consistent with knocks of 43, 28 and 53 in the initial matches. He has the potential to be one of the leading scorers this season with 124 runs in 3 matches this season.

When we talk of the batsmen, we cannot overlook the bowlers in IPL who have also played a major role in victories of their teams. The notable bowlers in the first week of IPL 2018 are:

Mayank Markande

Mayank was the man who dismissed MS Dhoni in the inaugural match of this IPL. When you dismiss MSD, you will be noticed by everyone around you. But this player from Mumbai Indians has a lot more to boast of, that is, he has the Purple Cap at present with 7 wickets in 3 matches. The batsmen who have been dismissed by this rising star include Shikhar Dhawan and Wriddhiman Saha too.

Chris Woakes

This bowler from Royal Challengers Bangalore has also shown that he is a world class bowler. Although his economy rate is above 10.0 in 3 matches, he is the joint holder of Purple Cap with Mayank Markande. He has taken 7 wickets until now and is expected to raise the numbers.

All Rounder

There can be no other choice for this place other than Sunil Narine. He has hit some big sixes in the matches and has also sent hard hitters to the pavilion. He has 71 runs and 4 wickets in 3 matches and is currently the most valuable player in the IPL.

The IPL 2018 is progressing and we will surely see some new names in this list the next time. Till then, keep enjoying the IPL.
