Kings XI Punjab completed a miraculous comeback against Delhi Capitals last night in Mohali. When Delhi Capitals were cruising to an easy win, Punjab's bowlers came back strongly to derail the Capitals' chase. KXIP stormed back into the contest by uprooting Delhi’s last 7 wickets in the space of just 16 balls.

English all-rounder Sam Curran was brilliant for Punjab as he took the first hat-trick of the 12th edition of the IPL. He finished the match with figures of 4/11 in 2.2 overs; he also scored a quickfire 20 runs while opening the batting for the team and was deservingly adjudged Man of the Match.

Here are 4 other players who were brilliant on the night for Punjab based franchise and helped the team to snatch the victory from Delhi Capitals.

#1 Ravichandran Ashwin

The skipper led the Punjab team from the front. Defending the sub-par total, KXIP needed wickets upfront with the new ball to contain the strong batting unit of Delhi Capitals. Ashwin opened the bowling for KXIP and removed DC’s last match hero Prithvi Shaw on the very first ball of the inning.

He later came back to dismiss Shikhar Dhawan in the 10th over of the innings when he trapped the southpaw in front of the wickets with his carom ball. Ashwin also ran-out dangerous Chris Morris with a direct throw and turned the tides into Punjab’s favor.

#2 Mohammed Shami

It was Mohammed Shami who triggered the collapse for Delhi Capitals by uprooting Rishabh Pant’s middle stump. Shami bowled exceptionally with the old ball and created problems with the moving the ball for the batsman.

He complimented Sam Curran well from the other end and played the role of second-fiddle perfectly. Shami finished the night with 2 wickets for 27 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

#3 David Miller

David Miller came to bat when the Punjab team was in a bit of trouble after losing their first three wickets inside 8 overs.

He then stitched a handy partnership of 62 runs with Sarafraz Khan and steadied the ship for KXIP.

Although he could not kick-on with his inning and provide the finishing touch to the innings, it was his knock of 43 runs which helped Kings XI post a respectable total on the board.

#4 Mandeep Singh

Mandeep Singh came to KXIP’s rescue in the final overs of their innings with his small but important knock in the context of the game. When Punjab’s inning stuttered at the death, it was Mandeep who held his ground from one end.

He later went on to hit Kagiso Rabada for a four and a six in final two deliveries of the KXIP inning. It just lifted the mood of the KXIP team and gave them the much-needed momentum going into the second inning of the game.
