IPL 2019: Best uncapped players from each team
The main purpose of the Indian Premier League was to unearth the talented youngsters deep within India's domestic circuits and offer them another route into the national team apart from Ranji Trophy. This also meant that a player's talent is seen by all the viewers and thus selection into the national side is impacted.
The IPL has brought into the fray many prominent players and has created many match-winners for India and even for players from other countries. This season too, the trend for teams to go after youngsters has continued and uncapped players Varun Chakravarthy (₹8.4 crore), Shivam Dubey (₹5 crore) and Prabhsimran Singh (₹4.8 crore).
Having said that, let's take a look at the best uncapped players from each team.
Ch ennai Super Kings - Narayan Jagadeesan
For a team which is based in Chennai, they have a very less amount of local cricketers in their team. Only CSK stalwart Murali Vijay and the very talented keeper-batsman Narayan Jagadeesan are from Tamil Nadu. Jagadeesan was said to be the direct backup for MS Dhoni and was on the verge of getting a playing XI chance last season but all-rounder Dhruv Shorey edged him to it.
He has plenty of domestic experience and won the Man of the Match award on his Ranji debut. He's an attacking batsman in T20s and has been frequently been at the top of the run-scorers' pile in the TNPL and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Super Kings actually don't have many known uncapped players and very rarely have they used them since their return. Deepak Chahar was the only prominent uncapped feature and his exploits have deservedly earned him his cap. They have many youngsters in the team but they have mostly watched from the sidelines and gained experience from observing their stars.
That was the one downside of CSK last season. Even when they were sure that they would be in the top 2, they didn't provide chances to these youngsters. Of all the players in the lot, Jagadeesan is really exciting to watch and should get a chance.
