The Delhi Capitals retained as many as 14 players for IPL 2019 with star performers Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, and Trent Boult amongst the prominent names. Shikhar Dhawan also made a return to the Delhi-based franchise during the transfers.

The new look Delhi Capitals snapped up 10 players during the recent IPL auctions and have a total squad of 24 players now - 8 of whom are overseas players.

The GMR Group-owned franchise has never been able to bring out their best since the past 6 editions. Delhi Capitals (earlier known as Delhi Daredevils) have a decent shot at making the playoffs considering the balanced new squad. The fact that someone like Ricky Ponting will be at the helm as coach is also an added advantage. Mohammad Kaif will play the role of the Assistant coach.

Fans will be hoping that with the personnel changes, the Delhi-based franchise breaks the jinx and at least makes it to the playoffs. With little over a month remaining for the blockbuster event to begin, here is the complete Delhi Capitals squad:

Openers: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Colin Munro, Manjot Kalra

Middle-order batsmen: Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer

Shikhar Dhawan making a return to Delhi Capitals only means good news for them. The Indian opener had a brilliant run in the IPL last time around as he made 497 runs in 16 matches at an average of 38.23. He was a vital cog for the Sunrisers and helped them reach the final.

Prithvi Shaw is another handy option for Delhi up the order. The young prodigy led the India U-19s to glory in the U-19 World Cup in 2019. He also made a memorable Test century on debut - against the Windies in October 2018. The Maharashtra-born player amassed 245 runs in 9 matches in the 2018 IPL at an impressive strike rate of 153.12 and is expected to shine for Delhi in the upcoming edition as well.

Colin Munro failed to make an impact for Delhi in IPL 2018. However, the Durban-born player proved why he one of the finest T20I batsman as he made a blistering 72 off 40 against India in the recent T20 series. It was the 3rd and final match and his contribution proved to be a match-winning one for which he also received the Player of the match award.

24-year-old Shreyas Iyer is a reliable option in the middle. The Right-handed batsman led from the front and scored 411 runs in 14 matches for Delhi in the 2018 season. The Capitals finished at a disappointing 10th position last time around and he is likely to play a major role in overturning their fortunes.

Hanuma Vihari is another excellent option in the middle while Manjot Kalra provides the backup option.

Wicketkeepers: Rishabh Pant, Ankush Bains

21-year-old Rishabh Pant was absolutely outstanding for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2018. The youngster also emerged as the 2nd highest run-getter of the tournament as he amassed 684 runs in 14 matches at an average of 52.61 and a breathtaking strike rate of 173.60. He will be the obvious first choice behind the stumps with Ankush Bains as the backup.
